Why I Write

A childhood spiritual encounter, a neglected upbringing, a mythological muse, and a pencil stub all contributed to my genesis as a writer.

I craft suspenseful political thrillers that weave true events into fictional narratives. Sociopolitical commentary is infused into my work, whether through allegorical short stories or scathing satire that expose the absurdity of human interaction with each other, animals, and the environment. Fueled by the dance between sanity and madness, my Gothic poetry emerges, dark and unsettling. I know its sway all too well.

Writing about political corruption and social injustice places me within the tradition of those resourceful writers who have played a crucial role as social critics, using their works to comment on and critique the societies in which they live. My writings aim to provoke thought and discussion, to question the status quo. They serve both as entertainment and as instruments for social change. Writing about sociopolitical issues is an endeavor rooted in a deep commitment to address social inequality, the preservation of nature and wildlife, and society’s power to address the underlying challenges of political venality.

I feel obligated to speak my truth as an individual and to reflect those truths as an author. As I root for kindness, decency, and a safe world for future generations, my characters take no prisoners in their fight to make the world a better place. I can no longer be content to just let a character reflect my opinions on gun control or remind myself to be inclusive in the worlds I create. I have to take a stand. I have to do more in my life and in my work.

When not writing, I find solace in a glass (or two) of a well-aged Corbières while listening to Black jazz of the 20s and 30s. Born and raised in North Harrow, London, I now enjoy the peace and comfort of nature and wildlife and the company of my furry friends in my cat sanctuary.A change of scenery to the seashore sparks creativity—without the distraction of my cats adding their input on the keyboard.

So, welcome to my den. Join me with a beverage of your choice, and prepare to be entertained, enlightened, and maybe a little disturbed.
